Joan was born April 4, 1930 to Archibald F. Bennett and Ann Ella Milner.
She graduated from East High School and the U of U (B.S. Education 1951). Joan taught school in Salt Lake City; Maryland; Washington, DC; and California.
She married Melvin Miller Farr on February 2, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have six wonderful children: Melvin Bennett (Melissa), James Bennett (Susan)l David Bennett (Emily), Carol Ann Farr Cook (Jerry), John Bennett (Angelin), and Daniel Bennett (Stephanie); twenty-four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Joan was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions in Sunday School, Primary, Cub Scouts, MIA, Relief Society, and Family History.
She was a charter member of the Mount Olympus Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP) camp.
She enjoyed writing, including "Ninean," a book to be published; painting, sewing, gardening, reading, and collecting stories of her progenitors. Her greatest joy was her wonderful family.
She served two missions with her husband, to the Polynesian Cultural Center, where she grew to love the Polynesians and their culture, and to Wasco, California to teach English.
We will miss her beautiful blue eyes, her dimpled smile, stunning white hair, and kind and loving heart; always putting other's welfare ahead of her own.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses; grandchildren; sister, Barbara Roach; and brother, David Milner Bennett (Lorrie).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mount Olympus Ward Chapel, 4635 South Lanark Road (3335 East).
