Mrs. Johanna P. Anderson, 84, prominent church worker and a pioneer settler, died early Thursday of heart and liver complications incident to old age.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Billederga, Sweden on April 23, 1850, a daughter of Lars and Bengta Pearson, who moved to Denmark in 1870. After embracing the LDS faith, Mrs. Anerson emigrated to American, reaching Salt Lake City in the fall of 1876. She was married in the LDS endowment house in Salt Lake City April 24, 1878, to C. W. Anderson, one of the original group of pioneers who settled Mt. Pleasant in 1859. Mr. Anderson died Bebruary 9, 1921. She had made her home here continuously since her marriage and had been active in church and civic work. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Historical association and had served 50 years as head teacher in the North ward Relief Society. She was an ardent lover of nature and her beautiful garden, which she cared for until her health failed, was one ot the show placesd of the city.
Surviving are a son, Nelson W. Anderson, and three grandchildren, all of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Mrs. Annie therkelsen, East Mill Creek, and two brothers, Andrew Pearson Darlington, S. C.; Niels Pearson, Bonita.
