Kathryn L. Drought-Hicks, 82, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, in Crimson Pointe Senior Living. Born Aug. 2, 1932, in Bluford, the daughter of Dewey and Ella (Baldridge) Shields. Lived in the Rockford area since 1950, coming here from Bluford. She married Marvin B. Drought on April 26, 1958, in Richland Center, Wis.; he passed away June 15, 1994. Kathryn then married Clayton B. Hicks on June 6, 1996, in Belvidere; he passed away May 29, 2000. Employed by Barber-Colman, retiring in 1959. She loved animals and birds. Kathryn enjoyed playing the piano and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include son, Steve (Cindy) Drought of Machesney Park; grandsons, Jason (Kelly) Drought of Tempe, Ariz., and Jeff (Brandi Kenney) Drought of Machesney Park; great-grandchildren, Lillyan, Isabella and Jordan; sister, Maxine Fildes of Clay City; brother, Ivan (Madlyn) Shields of Machesney Park; many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents and two brothers.

Service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time.

Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
