JOHN ROE SR.
John E. Roe Sr., 70, a native of Bayou Chene and resident of Morgan City, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. A private service will be held following cremation and burial at sea. He is survived by his wife, Eva Dell Verrett Roe; four sons, Edward Thomas Roe Sr. of Bayou Vista, Michael Howard Roe of Missouri, John E. Roe Jr. of Alexandria, and Ernest James Roe of Morgan City; one daughter, Jeannie Roe Burnes; two brothers, Eugene Roe of Denham Springs, and Charles Roe of Morgan City; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Maude Veret Roe; and two sisters, Minnie Green and Winnie Smallman. He was president of Louisiana Crawfish Association, a U.S. Navy veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post no. 442 and a member of AARP.
