Henry Charles Hamilton Eden was the son of Charles Hamilton Eden and Caroline Sophia Ford.

He married, firstly, Violet Alice Pulleine, daughter of Captain Henry Percy Pulleine, on 11 November 1916.
He married, secondly, Penelope Glynne Sitwell, daughter of Hervey Wheler Sitwell, on 8 April 1957.

He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England. He fought in the First World War. He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.) (and bar). He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 88th (2nd W Lancs) Field Brigade, Royal Artillery between 1936 and 1938. He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches. He gained the rank of GSO(1) in 1939 in the service of the 51st Highland Division. He gained the rank of CRA in 1940 in the service of the 51st Highland Division. He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.
He died at the General Hospital, Poole, Dorset.
