Roland Glen was born in Clifton, Texas, to the late Roscoe and Castell Patterson. He attended Clifton High School, and then served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1951 to 1954.
In 1955, he married Kay Steward and they had two children. They lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, for 33 years and then retired from Kansas City Southern Transport Rail Road in 1995 to Valley Mills, Texas.
Roland was a member of the Baptist church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 plus years. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
