Waldo F. "Doc" Anders
1935-2015
Waldo F. "Doc" Anders passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the age of 79. He was born November 7, 1935 in Schulenburg, Texas to Joseph and Louisa Blaschke Anders. Doc graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1954. He was a driver for Central Freight Lines for 10 years after that he became a Driver Instructor and retired from Central in November 1997, having completed 38 1/2 years of service. Doc's main hobby was woodwork and he also enjoyed restoring classic cars. He volunteered at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in many capacities. He served as Bazaar Chairman for 18 years and was also a member of the St. Charles Men's Club having served as President for 7 years. Further, Doc served in various capacities: finance/money counter, food pantry worker, bingo worker, and assisted with maintenance projects. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Leo and Werner Anders; brothers-in-law Wayne Holloway, Warren Clark, Clifford Y'Barbo, Richard Schiefelbein; and sisters-in-law Margaret Schiefelbein, Valrie Y'Barbo, Genevieve Shaw; and nephews, Ricky Schiefelbein and James Y'Barbo. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Anders; daughters Brenda Steelman (Johnny) of El Campo, TX, Sabrehna Everett (Artie) of Odessa, TX, Darlene Watkins (Tom) of Kerrville, TX, Charlotte Sandlin of San Antonio, TX, son Joseph Anders (Missy) of Kerrville, TX, and grandchildren; Sara Wisnieski (Marcus), Stephanie Bodungen (Keith), Hayne Holley, Harrison Holley (Rachel), Hunter Holley, Amanda Calderon (Pete), Madeline Watkins, Jordan Anders (Colleen), Whitney Anders and fiancé James Hudson, Jonathan Sandlin (Heaven), Joshua Sandlin, Melanie Sandlin and fiancé Doug Faulk and Ashley Sandlin and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves behind brother Alvin Anders; and sister Valeria Tumis; and sisters-in-law Josie Anders, Georgie Moretz, Mona Y'Barbo, Dorothy Holloway, Dympna White (Archie); and brother-in-law Hubert Y'Barbo (Alice); cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5 pm – 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Serivces are set for 11:00 am Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 501 Tidwell, Houston, TX 77022. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery with grandsons serving as Pallbearers.
