Fisher Smith Hubbard, age 92, died Thursday afternoon 5/3/12 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday 5/5/12 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M.. Dr. Tommy Snyder will be officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Don Smith, Bill Drake, Durwood Gordon, Steve Wingert, Eddie Nabors, Jamie Smith, Dennis Mangrum, Rupert Howell and Billy Bright serving as Pallbearers.

Fisher was the daughter of the late David H. Smith and Christine Fisher Smith. A life-long residence of Panola County, she graduated from Courtland High School and then attended and received her RN degree from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee in 1942. During World War II Fisher served as a nurse at the Prisoner of War Camp in Como, Mississippi. She was a homemaker for many years and later employed for 11 years as a school nurse by South Panola School District. Fisher was life time active member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a charter member of the "Stitchers" Sewing Club that met for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harris Hubbard, and a sister, Helen Smith Bevell of Memphis, Tennessee.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine Hubbard Fleming and husband Bill of Batesville, Mississippi and Harriet Ruth H. Karatassos and husband Straton of Starkville, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Fisher Fleming of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Will Fleming and wife Meredith of Batesville, Mary Straton K. Smith and husband Kell of Jackson, Mississippi and Harris K. Carruba and husband Louis of Pelham, Alabama; one great-grandson, William Russel Fleming; and three sisters, Martha Todd Rowsey of Batesville, Mary Louise Drake of Southaven, Mississippi and Frances E. Stanley of Batesville.
