Bobby Clinton Yates, 84, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015, at Oakhurst Baptist Church, Asheboro, NC. Officiating will be Dr. Richard Crider. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

A native Randolph County, NC, Mr. Yates was born April 4, 1930, the son of the late Travis Davis and Freda Yates. He had retired from Acme-McCrary and had owned Yates Auto Sales. He loved his church, Oakhurst Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Mr. Yates had served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his brother, Travis Davis, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Zelma Yates, of the home; son, Timothy Clinton Yates and wife, Barbara, of Asheboro; daughter, Pamela Yates Jarrell and husband, Zach, of Asheboro; sisters, Betty Davis Nichols, Anna Davis Adams, both of Denton; grandchildren, Garrett Yates and wife, Amanda, Ellery Hogan and husband, Jerome, Brittney Jarrell, Conner Jarrell; great-grandchildren, Remington Yates, Naletta Yates, Chloe Moss, Bristol Moss.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, and other times at the home.
