S. Dean Horton
Shellman Bluff – S. Dean Horton, 80, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his residence under the care of his family and Hospice of the Golden Isles.
He was born in Bacon County, raised in Appling County and had lived in Long and McIntosh counties most of his life. He had formerly worked in sales in both insurance and with Clausen’s Bread. He and his wife owned and managed Kip’s Fishing Camp for over 15 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, past member of Bobtown Hunting Club and a current member of Shellman Bluff Hunting Club and Sapelo Saltwater Fishing Club. He was a member of Shellman Bluff Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 40 years, Susan Hendrix Horton of Shellman Bluff; three daughters, Cindy Hall and husband Johnny, Tammy Allen and husband Mike of Ludowici, and Regina Haggard of Shellman Bluff; three sisters, Betty Jean Bullard of Nahunta, Frances Durrence of Spanish Fork, UT, and Jeanette Dewitt of Darien; two brothers, Carlton Horton of Jacksonville, FL and Bill Horton of Savannah; grandchildren, Glenn (Allyson) Yeomans, Leigh Hall, Greg (Morgan) Rogers, Carrie, Jade, James and Tyler; eleven great-grandchildren, and several niece and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Haman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends may sign the online register at www.howardfuneralga.com
