Blacksmith with Troop C of the 8th Cavalry. Killed by Apache Indians at Dry Creek.Daniel Collins was from Massachusetts. He was a blacksmith in the 8th Cavalry. He was killed by a group of Apache Indians at Soldier Hill, in then Socorro County, New Mexico, on December 19, 1885. His body was taken to the WS Ranch near Alma, New Mexico for burial. He is buried in a common grave with three other soldiers, Frank E. Hutton, Harry E. McMillan and George Gibson.
