Donna L. Sharp, age 99, of Joplin, Mo., passed
away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, following a sudden illness.

She was born Dec. 22, 1915, in Webb City, Mo., to Bruce and Viola Rice Williams.

Donna grew up in the Joplin, Webb City area and graduated from Joplin High School, in 1933. She attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, for two years, then transferred to the University of California, at Berkley and graduated from UMC, in 1937, with a degree in Sociology. She worked at Marshall Fields in Chicago, Ill. for one year. Donna then returned home to care for her mother. She enjoyed reading, playing Bridge and was a member of Twin Hills.

She married William "Cookie" Sharp on Jan. 1, 1946, in Joplin, and he preceded her in death, in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Roger; as well as a brother, Robert Williams.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Reverend Dr. Dave Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, in care of the mortuary.
