Raised in the McClain Co., area of the Johnson Community, he graduated from Purcell High School in 1942.
A veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1946, he was in the 5th Fighter Command of the Army Air Corps. and was a life member of the VFW Post #1254 of Arkansas City, KS.
He worked most of his life as a General Motors Master Mechanic in Arkansas City, Purcell, and Norman, as well as General Electric in Winfield, KS.
Preceding him in death were: his parents, Knox and Alma Murrell, two sisters: Mary Nell Glasco and Betty Richerson, a son: Kenneth Patrick "Kenny" Murrell, and his wife of 52 years, Mary Carolyn (Abrams) Murrell.
Survivors include: his daughter, Linda (Michael) Rawlings, of Cincinnati, three grandchildren: Jason Judd of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer and Christopher Rawlings, both of Cincinnati; two great- grandchildren: Brenton and Katelyn Judd; his brother, Buddy Murrell, of Cherokee, OK, and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Murrell will be held Monday, April 27, at Johnson Road Baptist Church in Purcell.
Services will be under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
