Lynette Sue Brown, 65 years of age, of rural Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Lynette was born January 18, 1950 at Lincoln, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to Amiel "Gene" and Beulah "Billie" (Languis) TenHulzen. She received her education from the Palmyra-Bennet Public School, graduating with the class of 1968. Lynette then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Education.

While at college, Lynette met her future husband, Leroy "Farmer" Brown and the couple were united in marriage on March 2, 1973. They made their home on a farm near Oxford. To this union three children were born: Lance, Lucas and Lydee Jo. In addition to raising her children and helping milk cows on their dairy, Lynette was always willing to help others. She taught Sunday school, Bible school, sponsored Methodist Youth Fellowship, operated Muddy Lane Pre-School out of her home and was active with Mansion Builders and other church activities. Lynette dedicated her life to teaching youth and showing her faith in God.

In 1983, Lynette began her employment with the Harlan County Extension Office as an Assistant Extension Educator. Her tireless work with 4-H and home extension in Harlan County and Nebraska allowed her to mentor thousands of Nebraska's youth and made her many life-long friends. There were always workshops, sewing camps, 4-H camps, "this and that days", and meetings to host and attend. Lynette was never too busy to help out with school activities from baking bread, stir fry for Chinese New Year, hardtack and Johnny cakes for the 6th grade Civil War studies, having Kindergartners out to the dairy to milk a cow, feed baby calves, and run around the hay bales were enjoyable memories.

Another favorite time was going to NTV to cook with Marilyn and "that" Tim, because he wouldn't take part eating the preparation of the day if it had anything green in it!

Lynette especially loved her grandchildren, even if she had to wear the same yellow sweater two days in a row, because Kaitie loved the color yellow. Or the time when Boston, Jailyn and Emery got so muddy their clothes plugged the new washing machine! Her love for her family always shined through. The little girls, Arden, Brecken, and Brynlee made her smile when they would climb up on the cupboards or jump off the coffee table trying to keep up with their siblings.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her husband, Farmer Brown of rural Oxford; two sons: Lance Brown and his wife, Kelli Cummins-Brown of Nashotah, Wisconsin and Lucas Brown and his wife, Jill of Lincoln, Nebraska; one daughter, Lydee Jo Krueger and her husband, Chris of Pierce, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Emery and Arden Cummins-Brown, Kaitlyn and Jailyn Brown and Boston, Brecken, and Brynlee Krueger; her parents: Gene and Billie TenHulzen of Firth, Nebraska; one sister, Joleen Huneke and her husband, Stewart of Wilber, Nebraska; brothers-in-law: Dale Rood and his wife, Connie of Waverly, Nebraska, Gary Brown of Oxford, and Kent Brown and his wife, Linda of Axtell, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Best of Oxford; and a large extended family including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Deb Rood; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Harold and Marge Brown.

A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Oxford with Reverend Eldon E. Fablinger officiating. Interment will be held in the Oxford Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Lynette's honor and will be designated at a later date.

The Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
