He was the son of the late Van Alexander and Hattie Mildred Garrett. In addition to his parents and his wife, Janet Brown Garrett, Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by brothers Garvin Eugene, John Mitchell, Maxie, and Charles Garrett.
Mr. Garrett served in the United States Army and was the recipient of The Purple Heart for injuries received while serving in Korea.
He was an avid golfer and a classic car enthusiast.
Leonard was a Godly man who served his Savior as a member of Mt. Calvary Christian Church.
At the time of his retirement, he worked for the Weights and Measures Division of the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 1:30 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel.
Burial will be at Graceland West.
