Services for Judy Granberry Sanders, 73, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Wickham and the Rev. Kendall Shuler officiating.Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.Mrs. Sanders passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015. She was born March 20, 1941, in Red Springs to Thomas Henry and Mary Lee Carter Granberry.Judy grew up in Lindale. She graduated from Lindale High School and was crowned "Miss Lindale." Judy went on to graduate from U.T. Tyler with a bachelor's degree in education. She worked at Southern Oaks Baptist Church as a pre-K teacher and taught in the Mother's Day Out program. Judy served as a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church downtown and at Midway Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed painting, drawing and gardening. Birds of all kinds always brought her joy. Judy loved teaching her students, serving the church and most of all, spending time with her family.Judy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Carter, Travis, Bill Jack and Fred Granberry; and sisters, Beth Bryant and Ruth Talbert.She is survived by her loving family including her husband of 53 years, Brian Sanders; daughters, Kathy Cope, of Flint, Karen French and husband Steven, of Rockett, Robin Sanders, of Tyler; grandchildren, Michael H. Hammonds, Bridgette D. Hammonds, Brandon T. Cope, Benjamin T. Cope, Rick L. Cope; siblings, James Granberry and wife Edwina, of Hideaway, and Peggy Stone, of Flower Mound.Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
