Mrs. Nancy Jane Wilson Strickland, age 74, a resident of Louisville, Alabama, died August 13, 2019 at her residence under Hospice Care.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday August 18, 2019 at the Evergreen Baptist Church (149 Evergreen Church Rd., Clayton, AL. 36016) with the Reverend's Jeff Hines and Josh Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Baptist Church prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations in remembrance of Nancy Strickland be made to Evergreen Baptist Church, c/o Candy Finlayson, 8418 Hwy. 239, Banks, AL. 36005.
Mrs. Strickland was born on September 16, 1944 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the daughter of James Robert Wilson and Nellie James Fondren. Nancy had many loves in her life that included: flowers, computer games, watching and feeding birds, reading and raising all kinds of farm animals including Bonnie and Clyde her two raccoons. She loved her nieces and nephews and was very positive and had an amazingly solid faith. Mrs. Strickland was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher, secretary, church clerk and Baptist Association representative. She was a member of the Clayton chapter of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron. Mrs. Strickland received an Associates in Business Degree from Wallace Community College and she worked for twelve years at Farmers Exchange Bank in Louisville. She also worked many years at the Barbour County Extension Office teaching life skills to young mothers. She enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Clayton Swingers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Freeman Strickland, Jr.
Survivors include: two sisters, Dorothy Ann Wilson Byrd, Louisville, AL.; Jean Wilson Loper (Malcolm), Louisville, AL.; three brothers, Clyde Allen Wilson, Sr. (Mary), Brandon, Mississippi, Dean Robert Wilson (Lavetta), Hattisburg, Mississippi, James Richmond Wilson (Jimmie Lynn), Louisville, AL.; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Active pallbearers will be: James Wilson, Lamar Boswell, Donnie Dykes, Charles Sewell, Curtis Weaver and Chad Steadham.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Finlayson, Ray Westbrook, Larry Harrison and Dick Martin.
Glover Funeral Home of Clayton was entrusted with the arrangements.
