Mrs. Handel passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 after an eight year battle with cancer. Born in Port Jefferson, NY, she was a daughter of Mary Ellen O'Connell Savoia and the late Humbert Louis Savoia. She worked at Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY as a registrar in the Emergency Department and provided in home child care for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick Handel; son, Marc Handel; daughters, Abby Mitchell (Travis) and Amy Handel; grandchildren, Madison, Miley, Cameron, and Landon. Also surviving are her mother; sister, Susan Ludlum (Dave); brother, Robert Savoia (Debbie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Medical Center Foundation, Cancer Care Fund, 2720 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29069.
