Marilyn Jayne Vaughn Ward

Marilyn Jayne Vaughn Ward, 95, of 3349 West River Road, Nichols, N.Y., passed away Thursday evening, February 21, 2019 at her home.

Marilyn was born in Sayre, Pa., on May 19, 1923, the daughter of William Buckley Vaughn and Pauline Camp Vaughn. She was a graduate of Sayre High School with the class of 1941 and continued her education at Keystone Community College. In early years, Marilyn was employed by the Ingersoll-Rand in Athens, Pa. On October 13,1945, she married James Francis Ward at the Epiphany Church Rectory in Sayre. Marilyn dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, going shopping, making greeting cards, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Sayre and the church Adoration Program.

Marilyn’s family includes her children, Candice Warner of Sayre, Karen Wolcott and husband Fran of Phoenix, Ariz., Connie Weaver and husband Donald of Nichols, N.Y., James Michael Ward and wife Mary of Lantana, Fla., Christopher Ward of Lake Worth, Fla., 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of nearly 66 years, James Francis Ward on September 22, 2011, brother, Carlton Vaughn and sister, Evelyn Simons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Epiphany, Sayre, Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be directed to the Church of the Epiphany, 304 S. Elmer Ave. Sayre, PA 18840 in memory of Marilyn Jayne Vaughn Ward.

The Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home of Sayre is assisting the Ward Family with arrangements.
