Verla Davis Pinion, 97, of Indianola died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Indywood Personal Care Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Pinion was born October 2, 1917, and was the daughter of Henry and Bertha Sellers Davis. She was a registered nurse, and was retired from South Sunflower County Hospital. After her retirement, she worked as a private nurse for In Home Care. Ms. Pinion was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Offie Ealon Pinion; and sister, Opal Blakemore.

Ms. Pinion is survived by two sons, Billy Pinion and his wife Ann of Indianola and Ray Pinion and his wife Margaret of Inwood, GA; two brothers, Paul Davis and Henry Davis, both of Grenada; two sisters Melba Dees and Helen Tingle, both of Grenada; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
