Mrs. Emeline McCarter, relict of the late John McCarter, and mother of Dr. J. D. McCarter, of Beaver Falls, died Tuesday morning of last week near Darlington, Pa., in Chippewa Township, aged 63 years. The deceased had been in poor health for several months, and her life was prolonged only by her great will. Several weeks ago it was found that she was suffering from a tumor and an operation was made, and although she received the most careful attention and everything was done for her that medical science could suggest, it was impossible to prolong her life but a few days. Mrs. McCarter, whose maiden name was Douthitt, was born and raised near Darlington, and resided in that vicinity all her life. Mrs. McCarter was an aunt of our townsman, D. W. Moore.
