Richard H. Hader, 87, passed away Feb. 10, 2015. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Floral Hills Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to K.C. Hospice. Richard was a native of Kansas City. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. After his honorable discharge he engaged in the family business until 1955. After leaving the family business, his career in life insurance began at Missouri National Life Insurance Co. He received his Certified Life Underwriters (CLU) designation in 1969 and moved through several positions including assistant vice president and claims manager. Richard joined National Fidelity Life Insurance Co. in 1973 as a second vice president of benefits and later to the position of vice president. In the 1980's, Richard was vice president of the claims department for Employers Reassurance Corp. (ERC) in Overland Park until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada with his wife Audrey, often with one or both of their grandchildren. For many years Richard enjoyed bowling with friends and one of his fondest memories later in life was the Heartland Honor Flight for veterans which he enjoyed with his lifelong friend of 80 years, Jack Parmerlee and the Honor Flight Guardians, Tracy Morris and Jeni Mosier. Richard was a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by wife, Audrey and daughter, Beverly Quarles. Survivors include son, Kenneth Hader; two grandchildren, Bryan Quarles and Andrea Enstad; one great grandson, Jakob.
