Los Angeles Times dated 7 Jul 1894, Los Angeles, CA: A body found. BAKERSFIELD, July 6. -- Coroner Bruckreus was notified this morning that a dead man was lying about about eight miles northeast of this place in the foothills. He is supposed to be an American of French descent. Letters were found in his clothing addressed to Charles W. Vinal, and signed "Your loving sister, Louise A. Vinal." from Somerville, Mass. The thumb of the left hand had been amputated some time ago. From appearances he had been dead about a month.

Note: Re-interred 29 Aug 1894 from Union Cemetery, Bakersfield, Kern County, California. It appears he was actually in a lot there until his family was found.

It appears there was a probate issue in 1895 at San Francisco. Was there a spouse?
