Ray Houston Ross was born on November 18, 1927 in Beckville, Texas, to Arthur M. Ross and Nettie Pierce Ross. He passed away August 25, 2012 in Shenandoah, Texas. Ray attended schools in Beckville and Houston and graduated from the Houston Police Academy. He worked as a machinist , salesman, bookkeeper, detective, policeman, bank security officer and retired from HPD after 25 years. He had a big, kind heart and was a caring husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather who lived life to its fullest. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Raymond Ross, Ralph Ross, Raphel Ross and Roy James Ross, sisters, Joy Faye Ross and Margie Ross Blair. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Flynn Ross and his daughter, Raeanne Ross.
Ray is buried in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Harris County, Texas, memorial 96105174, and has a cenotaph marker alongside many of his family members in the Pierce Cemetery, Panola County, near Beckville, Texas.
