William M. Kester Sr.

BRIDGEPORT — William M. Kester Sr., 95 years of age, peacefully passed away at the home of his daughter on Tuesday, February 6, 2007.

Born in Clarksburg, WV, on May 15, 1911, he was the son of the late Cecil B. and Maude Kester.

Surviving him are his son and daughter-in-law, William M. Kester Jr. and Donna of Belington, WV; his daughter, Peggy K. Mumford of Ocean City, MD; two grandchildren, William “Chip” M. Kester III and Michelle A. Griffith; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Brittany Griffith and Kyle C. Harman.

Mr. Kester was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years in February 2005, and a sister, Kathleen Nutter in 1999.

Mr. Kester graduated from Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, WV, and was remembered as an outstanding basketball athlete. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked with local road contractors in West Virginia and ultimately settled on the family farm near Bridgeport.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Hospice personnel; Lynn Burton and Janice Adams; and to special caregivers Dana Gaigler and Marva Durham.

There will be a private graveside service with inurnment at a later date.
