LEO J. DUNN, a W.W. II Veteran with a career in advertising, died peacefully at his home in Naples, FL. on March 30, 2006 at the age of 94. Born on Dec. 16, 1911 in Lorain, OH. Leo studied applied arts at University of Cincinnati. As a young man he played trumpet in local clubs during the Big Band Era with his brother, a clarinetist. In his 20s, Leo enjoyed the hustle and glamour of the hotel business, working for Statler Hotels in Cleveland, Miami, and New York. He served in the Army in W.W. II from 1942-1946 and was honorably discharged as Master Sgt. After the war, Leo joined the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a salesman in Yellow Pages. He became National Sales Manager and retired from Ohio Bell 35 years later. A dapper dresser, he was known for wearing a fresh flower in the lapel of his suit every day. In 1951 he married Kathryn Powers of Columbus, OH. They were married for 52 years and enjoyed an active life until her death in 2003. Kay and Leo lived in Rocky River, OH. until retiring to Naples in 1977, where he raised roses and fruit trees, fished, and swam in the Gulf. He participated in the Telephone Pioneers of America, serving as its local president in 1985-86.
