Mrs. Virgie Lee Ricks of Morton Street, Franklin, departed this life to claim her eternal rest and peace on January 7, 2015, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital. On July 15, 1927, she was born to Thomas and Elsie Claude in Southampton County.

Mrs. Ricks was a member of Bryant Baptist Church and was a former member of the Senior Choir. Many years ago, she was also a member of the Senior Choir at Zoar Baptist Church.

Her memory will live forever in the hearts of five daughters, Theresa Hatch (Charles), Shelia Austin, Franklin, Barbara Everette, Rosa Claude (Johnny) of Courtland, and Nina Clasp (Phil), Capron; sons, James J. Ricks, Rudolph Ricks of Franklin, Alonzo Ricks (Donna), Yorktown; sisters, Mary C. Taylor (Alex), Elsie Gary of Capron; fourteen grandchildren twenty-two great grandchildren; one aunt, Etta Ridley, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:30 PM, Bryant Baptist Church, 23375 Bryant Church Road, Courtland, Virginia, with Elder Patricia Powell delivering the eulogy; Dr. Allen M. Davis is the host pastor. The committal and benediction will be in Pine Level Cemetery.
