Alphene is listed on the Sandusky Township, Sandusky, Ohio 1880 census as Alphene Grant (daughter) living with Nathaniel G Foster's sister, Julia (Foster) Grant & spouse, Charles Grant.
No record has been found at this time that Alphene was formally adopted by the Grants.
