COLLIE BELLE WISE Michigan City, Indiana Age 88, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2006, at her home of 39 years. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2006 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptit Church with the Rev. Stanley Mason, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Coleman and Hicks Funeral Home handled arrangements. Mrs. Wise was born April 12, 1918, in Lizella, GA, to Carlton and Catherine Hatcher who preceded her in death. On November 18, 1939, in Toledo, OH, she married Emmet D. Wise, Jr., who also preceded her in death. Survivors include her children: Carlton Wise, Chico, CA, Terry (Gerri) Wise, Gary, IN, Carlene Pender, Michigan City, and Jacqueline Walton, South Bend; grandchildren: Shaun (Mimi) Pender, Sidney (Katie) Pender and Nicole Pender, all of Michigan City, Joseph and Christopher Pender, both of Santa Monica, CA, Candace Wise, Gary, IN and Kimberly (Kevin) Slaughter, South Bend; six great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Gladys Given, Muskegon Heights, MI, William "Bud" Hatcher, Michigan City, Clarence "Flip" Hatcher, Pontiac, MI, the former Gary Mayor Richard G. (Ruth) Hatcher, and Margie Davis, Gary; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Also preceding Mrs. Wise in death was her brother, Charles "Snookie" Hatcher. Mrs. Wise was employed with the Michigan Township Trustee's office as an investigator and office manager for 34 years, retiring in 1991. She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Wise was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed a rich and active life. She was beloved by her family and all who knew her.
