Monday forenoon Mrs. LaPierre,
who has been, living in the chambers
of Mrs. McComb was engared in moving
her things down stairs, the children
being at play in the yard. "With the
furniture a bureau, with the drawers
out, was sitting on the steps, to
which the youngest child, a girl of
two years, was attached. By some
means in playing about or under it it
was overturned, falling upon the child,
who made a faint moan after the other
children reached it. Too frightened to
render assistance Susie Ordway,
niece of Mrs. Robert Gaynor, living
next door, saw the accident and running
to the relief, with great presence
of mind, released the little unfortunate
carrying it upstairs to its mother,
in whose arms it died a few minutes later.
The shock was a great one to
neighbors, who today have rendered ,
every possible aid to the distressed
parents in preparation for the funeral
which is in progress at the Congregational
church this (Tuesday) afternoon.
Rev. Burgess preaching.

We hear that a child of N. M. Lapiere,
2 years old, was killed on Monday
afternoon by the upsetting of a
bureau which was standing in the
yard. A sudden gust of wind was the
cause. The little innocent was buried
on Tuesday.
