Mrs. Fern Watson Nielson, 88, prominent church worker, died Thursday night at the family home of a heart ailment.
Mrs. Nielson was born in Mt. Pleasant June 1, 1892, a daughter os William E. and Julia Frandsen Watson. She attended Mt. Pleasant schools and Brigham Young University at Provo and for five years taught school in Heber and Mt. Pleasant. A talented musician she served many years as organist and chorister in the North ward Sunday school and Young Women's Mutual Improvement Assn. She was a member of North Sanpete Stake Relief society board during Mrs. Elizabeth Christensen's term of office and served as stake Relief Society organist. She was an expert carpet needlewoman. She was married to Arthur O. Nielson Nov. 8, 1916 in the Manti temple by Lewis Anderson, President.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters and two sons; Mrs. Norma N. Holter, Mrs. Donna Fern N. Christensen and Fran W. Nielson of Salt Lake; Mrs. Ruth N. Nielsen of Manti and Arthur O. Nielson, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant and two brothers, Owen G. Watson of Cleveland, and W. Blain Watson of Cloverdale, Cal., and six grandchildren.
