Mrs. Barth played tennis for over 60 years in San Diego. She and her husband, Robert Bruno Barth, passed on their love for tennis to their children, Roy and Patty. At 64 years of age, she went back to college at San Diego City College and won half her matches at number four singles. In most recent years, she won a gold medal in the 80 and over doubles in the Senior Olympics and was a Finalist in the National USTA 80 and over Women's Doubles in 2003.
She was deeply religious and believed strongly in prayer. She always looked for the good in other people and made a huge impression on everyone else she came in contact with.
She will be truly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two children, Patty Phillips and Roy Barth; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Sandon; one great-grandchild, Madelyn, and sister, Mary Powers Spencer.
Her Funeral and Memorial Service will be Monday, Dec 29, 2008, from 11-12 Noon at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 3030 Thorn Street (Thorn and Grim), San Diego , CA 92104. A short reception will follow at the church hall. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA 92113.
