Ronald “Ronnie” Glenn Blankenship, age 70, of North Wilkesboro, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 19, 1944 in Wilkes County to Verlin and Holly Blankenship. Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved life, cherished all the beauties of God’s creation, and found joy in the simple things. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul Blankenship.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Mary “Susie” Bumgarner Blankenship of the home; two sons, Christopher Blankenship and wife Jennifer of North Wilkesboro, Matthew Blankenship and wife Torri of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Chloe and Luna; two brothers, Bruce Blankenship and wife Wanda, Don Blankenship all of North Wilkesboro; three sisters, Linda Church of Las Vegas, Joan Curtis of Millers Creek, Diane Doyle and husband Robert of Wilkesboro.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 o’clock Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Dr. Monroe Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 12:30 until 2:00 o’clock on Saturday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Gentiva Health Service, 1907 West Park Drive, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
