Earl Francis Dawson "For everything there is a season…a time to be born and a time to die…" Earl Francis Dawson was born October 15, 1915 and entered eternal life on February 9, 2015. He left his family and friends with rich memories of his joy in living, joy in serving, great sense of humor, and love for others. Earl was born near Giltner, Hamilton Co., NE. to Claude E. and Mary Pearle Dawson. He was the oldest of five children, and lived on a farm. He was schooled in Giltner, NE, graduated from Giltner High School in 1933 and Nebraska State Teachers College in l937 with a BS degree in teaching. He married Evelyn Poland in Zion, Illinois in 1941 and remained so for 73 years. During those years he worked for John's Manville Corp., served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II., and worked for Southern California Edison Co. retiring in December of l979. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Visalia, attended Bible study, sang in the choir, taught 6th grade Sunday school, and was MYF leader. He was very active with his two sons in Cub and Boy Scouts, and Little League Baseball. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States in his trailer with his wife visiting relatives and friends, going on bus trips with the SAMS club, and visiting Hawaii. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Ron and his wife Sandy, Marvin and his wife Abby, two grandchildren, Alesha and her husband Corey, Loren and his wife Shannon, four great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Connor, Dominic, and Bella, his sister, Chattie Murphy, half-sister Claudia Aranio, half-brother Al Dawson, and sister in law, Helen Dawson. In joy we commend Earl into the hands of our gracious and loving Heavenly Father. Sleep on sweet prince go gently into the night---you will be much missed until you greet us once again in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in his memory to the Visalia Methodist Church, Optimal Hospice Care of Visalia, or
a favorite charity . Visitation was held from 2pm-5pm February 12th at Miller Memorial Chapel in Visalia. Memorial service will be 11:30am February 14th at the Memorial Chapel, and interment at Visalia Public Cemetery 1pm February 17th. Come and celebrate with us the life of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Tributes and condolences may be made at www.millerchapel.com.
