Wayne M. Larson, 81, Missouri Valley died May 14 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home, Woodbine.
Wayne was born June 20, 1921 in Avoca, to Chris and Irene (Wendt) Larson. He received his education in the Avoca area.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee in the South Pacific during World War II. August 18, 1947, he married Judy Sorensen in Council Bluffs, Wayne was a paint and general contractor. The couple lived in various locations, but the majority of their life has been in Harrison County.
After they retired, they spent 10 years at Buchanan Lake in Minnesota and eight of those winters in Bullhead, Ariz. Wayne became a resident of Rose Vista in November, 1998.
Wayne loved to fish and was a member of the Logan V.F.W. and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Larson, daughter, Christine Cook and grand-daughter, Michele Cook.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Larson, Missouri Valley; five children, David Larson and his wife, Rita, Little Sioux; Becky and her husband, Bruce Walters, North Branch, Minn.; Dennis Larson and his wife, Kathleen, Missouri Valley; Jeffrey Larson, Cherokee; and Alan Larson, Dallas, Tex.; 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 20 great grand-children; one sister, Barbara, and her husband, Dana Bain, Council Bluffs; five brothers, Dean Larson, and his wife, Meroy, Atlantic; Darrell Larson and Ila of Atlantic, Robert (Cork) Larson and his wife, Lavonne, Hopkinton; Ned Larson, and his wife, Gladys, Sioux City; and Larry Larson. Palm Desert, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
There are no funeral services planned.
