Catherine W. (Walker) Barnes, age 84, passed away at her residence in Brown County on Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015.
Catherine was born on November 27, 1930, in Morgantown to the late Lawrence and Helen (Henry) Walker. She was a 1949 graduate of Morgantown High School. Catherine married Maurice A. Barnes on October 9, 1953 at the First Christian Church of Morgantown. He lovingly survives after 61 devoted years of marriage.
Also surviving are her children, Carol Barnes of Eminence and Mark Barnes of Brown County; sisters: Marjorie Ross of Paragon and Carolyn Roush of Franklin; grandchildren: Alan Barnes of Trafalgar and Melissa Mofield of Samaria; great-grandchildren: Adison & Evan Barnes and Bentley Mofield.
Catherine is preceded in death by her siblings: Herman and Earl Walker and Louise Woods.
Catherine was a homemaker and employed with Herff Jones in Indianapolis for a short time during the early 1950's. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Brown County and a former member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown and the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Greenwood. Catherine enjoyed playing the piano and organ at church, quilting and working in her flower & vegetable gardens.
