Jay W. Peters of West York died 10:52 p.m. April 2 at York Hospital. He was 69.
Mr. Peters was known for his construction and real estate business, which he operated for more than 30 years. In later years he owned and operated Jay W. Peters Military Guns and Refinishing.
He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Korean War.
He was a member and past president of the York County Builders Association; a member of the Exchange Club of York, York County Realtor's Association and Dallastown American Legion; and a former member of the Dallastown Lions Club and Dallastown Jaycees.

He was a member of the West York Borough Council and was active in local politics. He was also a former supervisor of West York Borough and had worked closely with the West York Police Department on building and road projects. He participated in the West York Memorial Day parades driving one of his military trucks or jeeps and was a former chairman of the York County Democratic Committee.

Born in Chanceford Township June 25, 1932, he was a son of the late Howard G. and Ella E. Hoffmaster Peters.

He leaves his wife, Diane M. Evans Peters; a daughter, Aprile A. Incitti of Mountain Top, Luzerne County; two sons, Dennis J. Peters of Destin, Fla., and Jonathan W. Peters of Exton, Chester County; three grandchildren; five sisters, Rosella Peters of Albuquerque, N.M., Glenda Myers of Portland, Texas, Lucille Wayne of Harrisburg, Linda Looker of York and Lois Smith of Red Lion; and seven brothers, Howard G. Peters Jr. of Diamond Head, Miss., Charles Peters and Clair Peters, both of Red Lion, Wilbert I. Peters of North Fort Myers, Fla., Dale Peters and Thomas Peters, both of York, and Lavere Peters of Coudersport, Potter County.

Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Koller Funeral Home and Cremation Center Inc., 2000 W. Market St. The service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial is in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
