On Feb. 10, 2015, Laura Richards, 57, the beautiful mother, daughter and sister that was loved dearly; and returned it one hundred fold left us way too abruptly.

Laura was always extremely thankful to have had her only child, Michael Anthony Griffes. He was, and is, the light of her life.

Born on March 25, 1957, in Butte, Mont., to Edwin “Ted” and Diane Richards, Laura spent her school years growing up in Dillon, Mont. She was a cheerleader in high school and always remembered those years with great fondness. After high school she attended Western Montana College.

Almost every weekend in the summers, Laura, with her mom and dad and two younger brothers, Al and Ed, went camping, usually at Wise River. She loved fishing, catching frogs, and going on morning walks with her dad.

She was initially employed in banking, and then moved into the computer industry. Upon her son’s birth Laura opened her own daycare business. She met many wonderful children all of whom she dearly loved.

Laura had a lust for life, she had a glow that was infectious, and those she loved knew that they were loved unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin “Ted” Richards; uncles, Ron Nelson and Dale Curtis; and aunt and uncle, Norma and Jim Sevores.

Laura is survived by her son, Michael Griffes; her mother, Diane Richards; brothers, Henry “Al” Richards and Ed Richards; aunt, Joan Rebich; uncle, Thomas Nelson; nephew, Al (Lisa) Richards; niece, Amy Musick; as well as other cousins, family and friends.

A funeral service with Rev. Dan Dixson officiating will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials in Laura’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Montana Food Bank, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
