Removed From Gilmore and Reburied in Monongahela on May 1 1942This was written in his original obituary:Bertrand W. Castner was one of Donora's FOUNDING FATHERS. He sold much of his family's property to provide the land needed for both industry and homes for the new community. He basically mad e his own "job". He was also elected the as the first burgess of Donora. His obituary in The Daily Independent April 8, 1908 stated that 3,000 sorrowing friends yesterday paid the last respects to the remains of Bertrand W. Castner, a staunch and respected citizen of Donora. Death occurred at The Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh Friday and followed a surgery for appendicitis. Mr. Castner lived in Donora his entire life, of which was then called Walnut Bottoms. Mr. Castner was man to whom all his friends appealed in the hour of trouble and when assistance was needed, the appeal was not in vain. He served a long term as Justice of the Peace of Donora, and refused his last term. He was a member of The Masonic Fraternity and of The Donora Presbyterian Church. He as President of The Union Trust Co. and the First National Bank of Donora. The widow, one son John P. of Donora and two brother's James of Iowa, and John K. of Montana, survive. The funeral will take place tomorrow or Wednesday and interment will be at Gilmore Cemetery.
