David A. Kraft-----75, Ryder, ND, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in a Minot hospital.

David Alan Kraft was born on November 2, 1939, the son of Joseph and Rosina (Meyer) Kraft in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in the Ryder area, graduating from high school in Ryder in 1957. He attended UND and earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

On June 9, 1963, David was united in marriage to Lyla Rytter in Kenmare, ND. Following their marriage, they made their home in many places while David taught music in Max, Palermo, Hazelton, and Plaza. He then ran Kraft’s Grocery and Variety Store in Ryder for sixteen years. He returned to teaching at Border Central, Golden Valley, and Bowbells. He was interim Director of Camp of the Cross. He worked for different restaurants in Minot and M&S Concessions as a cook. Each summer he returned to work on the family farm near Ryder, ND.

David was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ryder, ND, where he would often sing and was a member of the church council. He was also a member of the GIFTS programs and served as a lay minister. He was president of the Ward County Commission of Aging. He was president of the Ryder Senior Citizens and served daily breakfast at the Senior Citizens Center until near his death. He sang with the Nodakords for several years. He was also a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader along with serving as Cub Scout day camp director. As a young adult, he was active in Jaycees and the ND Republican Party.

David enjoyed reading western novels, cooking, all kinds of music, and being an active member of the church and community.

Burial: Will take place in the spring of 2015 at Rosehill Cemetery, Ryder, ND
