Mary Mohler Reeb was born in Topeka, Kan., on May 14, 1913, to Flora West Mohler and "Jack" Henry Stark Mohler. She died in Medford, Ore., on Feb. 18, 2008.

She had one sister, Sarai. Her father worked in a feed mill and her mother was a homemaker.

At age 19, Mary met Joe Reeb in Campbell's Drug Store while sitting at the soda fountain. She was working at the Dollar Store at the time. They married in 1940. Mary and Joe were married for 57 years.

Their first home was in North Topeka, and later they moved to Hutchinson, Kan. There Joe got a job teaching in a boys school machine shop. He did this a couple of years before enlisting in the military. Mary lived with her parents while Joe was away and worked for an Army Air Force warehouse ordering supplies and parts for airplanes.

They moved to Richmond and Joe worked as a machinist at Berkeley Pumps and Mary worked for American Trust Company and later Wells Fargo Bank. She worked in the controller's department doing public relations. Joe and Mary spent many summer vacations at Coffee Creek Ranch in Trinity County. They returned to Trinity County after retirement in 1973 and bought a home there.

They lived in Weaverville for about three years and then continued their moving odyssey from Weaverville to Topeka, Kan., to Chico to Redding to Crescent City (where they lived for many years), back to Kansas (where Joe died from Alzheimer's in 1996). Mary returned to Crescent City and lived there until her death. She was a devout Catholic, an accomplished watercolor artist, good cook and homemaker, a devoted wife, and a good friend.

She leaves behind her sister, Sarai Hise, brother-in-law, Robert Goheen, two nieces, Marcia Hise Lau and Michelle Brausa, and good friends, David and Karen Hammer.
