Maverne Rose Abbitt age 91, passed away at Forest Park Health Campus on February 10, 2015. She was born on February 5, 1924, to the late Omer and Carrie (Emerick) Smith, in Shelbyville.

Mrs. Abbitt was a homemaker and had also worked in private schools helping out with special needs children. She lived in numerous cities following her late husbands military career before retiring to New Carlisle, Ohio. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son and daughter-in-law: Bob and Edna Abbitt; two grandchildren and their spouses: Jason (Terri) Abbitt and Allyson (Brian) Alexander; six great grandchildren: Tyler, Lucas and Nicholas Alexander, Claire, Lucy and Drake Abbitt; nieces; nephews; and a sister-in-law: Betty Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville E. Abbitt (1998), and her four brothers: William, Charles, Jack, and Herb Smith.

Family and friends may call Friday February 13, 2015, from 4-7 PM, at Community Family Funeral Home 101 West Main Street Richmond. Funeral service will be held Saturday February 14, 2015, 9 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Charlie Black officiating. Private burial will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in New Carlisle, Ohio.
