Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan and Celia (Martinez) Rivas.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A resident of the United States since 1979, he had lived in Taunton since 2003.
Fernando was employed by GATRA as a maintenance man.
He had previously worked for Havoc Industries.
Hard working and easy going, Fernando enjoyed the theatre and professional wrestling.
He will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a stepson, John Flores; ten stepdaughters, Maria Ortiz, Luz Flores, Milagros and Juanita Morales, Carmen Alicea, Margarita, Maria and Maggie Gonzalez, and Tamika and Tanya Flores; a brother, Juan Rivas; three sisters, Ana, Aida and Iris Rivas; a special nephew, Jose Miranda; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was also the stepfather of the late Osvaldo “Brian” Flores and Ana Gonzales; and was predeceased by three siblings, Saul, Samuel and Rosin Rivas.
Calling Hours will be held the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Feb. 12th from 4 to 8 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
