1947-2015
Sylvia Ruth Watkins, formerly of Pensacola, passed away in Fairhope, AL, on February 9, 2015, after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 27, 1947, in Pensacola to the late Shirley Phillip Touart and Susan Baker Touart Johnson.
Sylvia graduated from Escambia High School in 1965. She was a professional hair stylist for many years and also drove a City bus for ECAT. Health issues after an auto accident forced her to retire in 1992.
Sylvia married Jimmy Watkins in Pensacola on November 1, 1989 They moved to Robertsdale, AL, in 1991 and then moved to Seminole where they resided until Jimmy's untimely death on February 14, 2008.
Sylvia was a kind, happy, and generous person. Her home and her heart were always open to her family and her many close friends. She was happiest when she was cooking and serving one of her delicious Southern style meals for everyone.
She is survived by: her Sister Sue and husband Scott. Her daughter Kimberly and husband William; her sons, Jimmy "Bubba" and wife Karen; and Phillip and wife Vicky. Her grandchildren, Tony and wife Christina, Stephen, Ethan, Britony, Parris; and her great grandchild, Cayden. Also surviving Sylvia are her dearly beloved Shihtzus, Missy, Cowvin, and Bailey.
A special thank you to Pastor Dan and members of Three Rivers Church in Seminole for all that they did for Sylvia after her husband and her mother passed away.
Family-Funeral & Cremation is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Three Rivers Church Building Fund in Seminole. A Memorial Service will be held at Three Rivers Church, 31841 U.S. Hwy 90, Seminole, AL, at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2015.
