Kermit Harold Smith, 89 of Dardanelle, passed away Saturday, February 07, 2015. He was born September 10, 1925 at Havana to the late Thomas Earl and Virgie Joiner Smith. He was a 1943 graduate of Havana High School and a 1950 graduate of Pharmacy School at University of the Ozarks College in Clarksville. He was a former elder of the Havana Presbyterian Church and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Pharmacist in the Medical Corp in Europe from 1950 to 1952. Returning home, he continued his Pharmacy Career at Coger Drug in Danville from 1952 to 1955, Walker Drug in Russellville from 1955 to 1960, Boyd Drug in Morrilton from 1960 to 1961, Walker Drug in Russellville from 1961 to 1966, as the owner of Rogers Drug in Russellville from 1966 to 1976, V.A. Hospital in Little Rock from 1976 to 1995. In 2000, he received his Gold Certificate for 50 years of Pharmacy Service. He actually worked as a pharmacist until he was 70 years old.

Harold loved the time he and Ada Sue got to spend with the girls, granddaughters Meagan and Abby, and loved every minute of it! He said he was so happy he got to share his role of grandpa with them!! Harold and his wife Ada Sue spent many happy hours enjoying their morning coffee while watching all of GOD’s creatures putting on a show, just for them it seemed!!

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leon Smith, Glen Smith, Lonnie Smith and his first wife, Mildred Adcock Smith. Survivors include his wife, Ada Sue Bland Ray Smith; step-daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Patrick Carmack; two granddaughters, Meagan and Abigail Carmack, all of Conway; three nieces, Pat Fredrick and great nephew, Wade Fredrick of Havana; Debbie Phillips and great nephews, Nathan and Ryan Phillips all of Danville; Carol Smith of Mena; one nephew, Kenny Smith of Nacogdoches, Texas.

Funeral services will be on 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Chapel just before the service.
