Born February 15, 1925 to John and Elizabeth (Feuerstein) Hoover of Lowell. Jacob passed away peacefully at home at the age of 89 on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers and spouses: George, Ollie (Marion) Henry (Mildred), Andrew (Dorothea), Ernest (Beatrice), Leo (Maxine), Mike (Pauline) and Gerald; and sister Catherine Powers (Don). Father and mother in law, John and Alvena (Strouse) Tesch, Brothers and Sister-in-law Rachel (Edward) Przybylo and John (Bud) Tesch.
Jake is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peg Tesch) Hoover of 65 years; sons Jacob (Sharon) Hoover, Vince (Lucy) Hoover, Matt (Kathy) Hoover, daughter Judy Hoover-Brown; grandchildren Jennifer (Chad) Tolson, Brianne (Matt) Schuiteman, Aaron Hoover & Andy Hoover, Lisa Brown & Mike Brown; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Doris Tesch; and many nieces and nephews.
Jake, a lifelong resident of Lowell and parishioner of St. Mary's church was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He retired from General Motors 36th St. plant in 1983 after 37 years. Jake was a very kind and giving soul and volunteered for many years at church and for the Grand Valley Blood Program. He spent his winters in Florida upon retirement.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 402 Amity St., Lowell MI. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation Friday 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331, with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation at the Church one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church.
