George Wacker Dies After Long Illness
George L. Wacker of 1120 E. Third, Loveland, passed away in Denver Friday night after having been in ill health for several years.
Mr. Wacker celebrated his 69th birthday on January 8. He was born in Frank, Russia, on January 8, 1888. In 1912, he came to the United States and to Loveland where he has lived since. For 21 years he was employed by the Great Western railroad and was forced to retire four years ago because of ill health.
Mr. Wacker was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church and for many years was secretary of the congregation. He was one of the builders of the church at the corner of Fifth and Pierce in 1915.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie, one son, Arthur Walker of Loveland, five daughters, Mrs. Lydia Kauffman of Fort Collins, Mrs. Ella Gallagher of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Clara Greenwalt of Fort Collins, Mrs. Hannah Robbins of Ozark, Alabama, and Mrs. Wilma Giannelli of Boulder. Also surviving is one brother, Jacob Walker of Loveland and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from the Hammond Funeral Home. Interment services will be at Loveland Burial park.
