North Augusta, SC – John Casey Hollifield, son of Susan Christie, Morris Hollifield, and Robert Story, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 after a valiant battle with an extended illness. He was 37 years old. Casey was a graduate of North Augusta High School, class of 1997. He spent most of his life in North Augusta, SC, but also lived in Rutherfordton, NC, for many years. He was well loved and enjoyed by all that knew him. He had a quick wit and dry humor that easily kept everyone laughing. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Sophie Hollifield; sisters Ellison Hollifield and Tamarah Hill Smith (Travis); brother Jason Hill (Nathaly); nieces Sutton Hollifield, Adalynn Smith, and Alexandra Hill; nephews Ethan Smith, C.J. Plecha, and Landyn Freeman; grandmother Jinx Christie Duke; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 4:30 pm, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, with the Reverend Robert D. Fain officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Honey Creek Camp and Conference Center of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, 299 Episcopal Conference Center Road, Waverly, GA 31565 or to Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
