A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 9, 2015 at age 89. She was born on July 11, 1925 in Wellington, New Zealand. Surviving are her loving and devoted children, daughter Carolyn (Russell) Tropp of Holt; sons, Stephen (Jill) Hawkins of Mason, Robert (Evelyn) Hawkins of Holt, and William (Charlene) Hawkins of Bellevue, 23 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Hawkins of 52 years and grandson Danii Hawkins. A service in celebration of Gwen’s life will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:30 AM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes Holt Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Markham Cemetery.
