OBITUARY--Auburn Citizen, Mon., Jan. 30, 1989, pg. 22--Byron E. Ward-Byron E. Ward, 80, of R.D. Atwater Road, King Ferry, N.Y., died Saturday, Jan. 28, 1989 at his home. Mr. Ward was born in the town of Ledyard, the son of the late Paul and Clara Allen Ward and had resided in Southern Cayuga County all of his life. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Cayuga Crushed Stone Company of South Lansing. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Mary) Elser of King Ferry, N.Y.; four sons, Harold Ward of King Ferry, NY.; Herbert Ward of Genoa, NY.; George (Chet) Ward of King Ferry, N.Y. and John (Jack) Ward of King Ferry, N.Y.; one brother, Dudley Ward of Poplar Ridge, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Francis Rafferty Ward who died in 1969. Funeral services will be held Tuesday Jan. 31 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shakelton Funeral Home, Main St., Aurora, N.Y. with the Rev. Lawrence G. Wager, Pastor of the United Church of Genoa officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in King Ferry, N.Y. in the spring. Friends are invited to call at the Shakelton Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Instant Aide Ambulance Fund, Poplar Ridge, N.Y. or to the Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 29 Williams St., Auburn, N.Y. in memory of Mr. Ward.
